This is your personal Pride Coordinator, LaKesha. I thought it would be great to let you know about the hard work that’s going on behind the scenes to make this year’s block party and festival a time to remember!
First, a little about me:
I am a Baltimore native with an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. In 2017 I elected to do an internship at the GLCCB (for an internship for my Master’s Program) as a way to give back to my community. The internship started out with the usual stuff. Then, I was given the opportunity to join the Baltimore Pride Entertainment Committee. As things quickly progressed, I became the Chair of that committee! I graduated (with honors) that May with a Master’s Degree in Human Services Administration, however, remained dedicated to the project and with less than 60 days until the festival, I was able to put together two days of local entertainment and stars such as Big Freedia, Jessica Sutta and Jonathan Celestin!
Currently, I attend the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I am finishing up the first year of my PhD in Organizational Leadership. I have my own radio show on Monday nights on WMSKONLINERADIO. Check Me Out! Open Wide with Neeuq. I am also publishing my first book this summer, keep an eye out for it!
I remained connected with the GLCCB and decided to volunteer for a second year as the Entertainment Committee Chair. Well into the planning season, an opportunity opened up for me to become this year’s Pride Coordinator! Under the direction of Executive Director, Mimi Demmisew, I gladly accepted the assignment and got straight to work.
There are a few other honorable mentions that deserve recognition, as I can’t do this work alone.
I have to give a shout out to the GLCCB Board members for their work in keeping the Center afloat and available for all community members to take advantage of the services and programs provided and the sponsors that make this event possible. Let’s big up PNC, Under Armour and Kaiser Permanente! Thank you!
Most of all, none of this would be possible without hard-working, dedicated committee chairs, co-chairs and members! We have committee members working around the clock to bring you great entertainment, vendors, and events to partake in as we celebrate Pride.
An exact timeline of the weekend events will be posted soon! Here is a sneak peak of what you can expect – you have so many events to choose from! Be sure to look at our events page frequently.

The parade will leave from Charles and 33rd Streets, going southbound ending at about 23rd Street! There is still room for you to join the fun just complete an entry form to walk in the parade. Otherwise, come out and enjoy the fun as a spetator.
Come see the cutest animals in Baltimore as they strut their stuff in their own little parade!
The Pre-Pride Extravaganza boasts the showcasing of talent of many local artists as well as the announcement of the winners of the Arts of Pride contests !
The block party kicks off at 4pm with plenty of fun to enjoy! Be sure to stop by the Lez Lot (ticket required – click link to purchase), and the DJ Dance and Main Stages!
